DRIVING FORCES
technical centers
Scientific and Technical Center for Building - CSTB
The CSTB accompanies construction actors in the innovation cycle and in the transformation of the building sector in relation to the environmental, energy and digital transitions. It carries out five key activities: research and expertise, assessment, certification, testing and dissemination of knowledge. Its field of expertise covers construction products, buildings and their integration in the neighbourhood and the city.
Forest, Cellulose, Wood construction, Furniture Technological Institute - FCBA
As an industrial technical centre, FCBA covers all the forest-wood and furniture sectors: silviculture, forestry, sawmill, paper pulp, wood-based panels, carpentry, structure, furniture, packaging and various other products. FCBA is the only research organisation in Europe that works from the beginning around the entire life cycle – from forest to end product.
research
Gustave Eiffel University
With 1,200 researchers and professor-researchers, Gustave Eiffel University fulfils the missions of a well-rounded research organisation: carrying out or commissioning, directing, leading and evaluating research, development and innovation. This work concerns the fields of urban and civil engineering, building materials, natural hazards, mobility of people and goods, transport systems and means and their safety, as well as infrastructure, its uses and impact, all considered from a technical, economic, social, health, energy, environmental and human point of view.
Ecole des Ponts ParisTech
The ambition of research at École des Ponts ParisTech is to make a successful ecological and energy transition. Relying on 12 laboratories, including 6 mixed laboratories, 441 researchers and professor-researchers as well as 530 doctoral and postdoctoral students, the strategy aims to structure interdisciplinary research by responding to four socio-economic issues: City systems and mobility, Risk, resource and environment management, Industry of the future, Economy, uses and society.
technological platforms
Clean rooms - ESIEE Paris
The 650 sqm of clean rooms, with dust classes of 100 and 10,000, enable technological innovation in micro and nanotechnologies for companies, student training and research. They can be used to produce devices 10 to 100 times smaller than the diameter of a hair, in the micrometre range, and are accessible to companies, from start-ups to multinationals in sectors such as: biomedical, aeronautics, communications, connected objects, environment, sustainable cities, etc.
Sense-City (EquipEx)
Sense-City, a climatic chamber unique in Europe, is made up of two spaces of 400 sqm, on each of which a portion of a territory is built. Sensors are used to study the performance of urban planning and materials, to monitor the city of tomorrow by sending ad hoc information and to study air, water and soil pollution.
FUTURE INVESTMENT PROJECTS
Efficacity, Energy Transition Institute
Effcacity develops innovative solutions to act more effectively at each stage of a sustainable urban development project (carrying out territorial diagnosis, technical and economic project design and evaluation and territorial performance).
Laboratories of Excellence (LabEx)
- Urban Futures: interdisciplinary research focusing on three axes, the material and infrastructural dimensions of urban change, urban activities and the environment, urban societies: vulnerabilities, resilience and governance;
- Materials for Sustainable Construction Multi-Scale Modelling & Experimentation (MMCD): advanced fundamental research on physical phenomena governing the properties of construction materials and geomaterials;
- Institute for Research and Innovation in Society (SITES): research on the production of knowledge and its governance mode;
- Bézout: computer science and mathematics with a strong complementarity on emerging themes with potential applications for health or the sustainable city.
ecosystem partners
ERGANEO
Society for the Acceleration of Technology Transfer (SATT) specialises in breakthrough innovations (DeepTech) with a strong societal impact. It negotiates licence sales and invests upstream of the creation of start-ups in three areas: Biotech, Infotech (telecom, connected objects, big data, AI) and Enertech (new energies, chemistry, materials).
La Centrif’
La Centrif’, Cité Descartes “third place”, is dedicated to innovation and experimentation, particularly educational and digital. It develops initiatives, experiments, events, activities and training for students, academics and professionals.
